Here’s another good look at Google’s next-generation Nexus phone

Google accidentally gave us a good first look at its next Nexus phone last month, and the handset was spied again just a few weeks ago in a bar. A member of the MacRumours forums has posted the best picture of the so called “Nexus 5” yet while serving up some first impressions.

The phone looks identical to previous leaks, with the horizontal Nexus branding and large camera sensor both making a return. The back is indeed a soft touch material, according to the poster, who says it feels similar to the 2013 Nexus 7. The handset is apparently smaller than the LG G2 – which the phone is reportedly based off – but the display has been labelled as merely “OK” by the tipster, at least when compared to the Galaxy Note 3’s Super AMOLED panel.

Rumoured specifications for the next-generation Nexus device include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 SoC, a 5-inch 1080p IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of internal storage, and an 8-megapixel camera. It’s unclear, however, if LG’s optical image stabilisation will make the jump from the G2 to the next Nexus. We’ll probably find out more in the coming weeks.
