Nokia has announced this morning the launch of two new Internet orientated, budget mobile phones; the Nokia 111 and Nokia 113.
The mobiles are being marketed as social networking devices with emphasis on Facebook and Twitter, but also on making mobile internet faster and more affordable. This comes in the form of its Nokia Browser, which compresses websites in the cloud meaning its users consume up to 90% less data – impressive.
Both devices have access to the back-catalogue of apps from the Nokia Store, but also come preloaded with Facebook and Twitter on the home screen. The Nokia 113 also comes pre-loaded with instant messaging service eBuddy.
Another emphasis on the devices is their gaming capabilities, although little is revealed about the budget devices processing power and gaming will be limited by the 1.8inch screens. A pretty sweet EA games tie-up means that both devices will soon have free access to around €75 worth of gaming fun-times. Including Tetris, Need for Speed: The Run, Bejeweled, Monopoly Here & Now and SimCity Deluxe.
As mentioned the devices sport a 1.8inch display, but also support up to 32GB of expandable memory, an “improved” VGA camera, FM radio, bluetooth and an impressive 10 hours of talk time with around a month of standby.
Both devices come in dual SIM versions (the 110 and 112), though these will unlikely make their way to the UK. Probably our favourite thing about these devices is the estimated retail price, set at around €35 for the single-SIM Nokia 110 and €38 for the Nokia 112 – cheap as chips.
The Nokia 111 and Nokia 113 are set to ship in third quarter of 2012 and we can’t wait to try them out.
