Nokia’s first MeeGo-powered smartphone the N9, was rumoured to be skipping a launch in the UK, with rumours suggesting that the Finnish giant was set to concentrate on the Windows Phone 7 platform here and in other countries like Germany and France.
Well, that may all be moot, if Expansys are truly set to sell the Nokia N9 online. Its preorder page has gone live, with both the 16GB and 64GB options present and accounted for. We can see the black, cyan and magenta models are all up on the site for colour fans.
Nokia is also gearing up to reveal its first tie-in phone with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 in Germany later this month – it remains to be seen how Nokia will juggle release dates and ensure that each phone doesn’t cannibalise sales of the other.
We were pleasantly surprised by our hands-on time with the Nokia N9- we really rate that AMOLED screen, and the buttonless front is an interesting new direction for Nokia’s handset design. We liked what we saw so much, we even made a video of its highlights, including that stylish polycarbonate shell.
