Following on from EE’s launch yesterday, O2 now has a PAYG LTE service of its own. The network will be offering standard bundles instead of splitting the calls, texts, and data like EE, but it’s going to try and keep customers around for longer by offering added incentives.
Topping up with £15 will initially give you 75 minutes, 500 texts, and 500MB of data – not a whole lot to play with, then. But if you keep using O2 for three months, then your allowance will increase to 150 minutes, 1,000 texts, and 1GB of data. Stick around for another three months, and you’ll be bumped up to unlimited texts.
If you only care about data, though, then you’ll pay £3 for 100MB, £6 for 500MB, and £10 for 1GB – exactly the same prices as EE. Still, EE does offer additional 2GB, 4GB, and 10GB tiers which can ramp up to 150Mbit/s (potentially, anyway). If you crave data and texts, EE might be the better option overall, but those after a package deal may prefer O2.
