Samsung Galaxy Note 5: In a nutshell

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 is launching on Thursday August 13th, but we already know everything there is to know about the phone thanks to various leaks. Here’s the complete Galaxy Note 5 specs and features.

Why should I care?

Last year’s Galaxy Note 4 was one of the best phones of the year and a sure sign that Samsung had fixed its ways and was now focused on design and providing a solid user experience. And with the Galaxy Note 5 leaking in full, with even pics of the box now circling the internet, this fifth model looks to be even better.

What specs and features will the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 boast?

Although the Galaxy Note 5 was expected to launch with a 4k screen, the 5.7-inch display will actually pack a Quad HD resolution instead. But with a mighty 515 pixels-per-inch, the Galaxy Note 5’s display should be a great way to take in a movie on the go, and prove invaluable for video editing and other creative tasks.

Samsung has packed the Galaxy S6‘s 16-meg snapper inside, and this time it looks like the lens won’t jut out of the frame. And around the front you’ll once again find a 5-meg selfie cam, complete with the usual freaky beauty mode to make yourself look like an alien hybrid.

A 64-bit octa-core processor powers the Galaxy Note 5, most likely Samsung’s Exynos chipset which is one of the most powerful processors around. That’s backed by a massive 4GB of RAM for super-smooth performance, plus 32GB of storage space – although once again, there’s apparently no microSD expansion. As a result, expect 64GB and maybe 128GB models to also be available.

The Galaxy Note 5 will also support wireless charging, but you’ll need to buy the charging pad separately.

What’s the UK price and release date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5?

Samsung is set to launch the Note 5 and maybe the Galaxy S6 Plus on August 13th. We expect to see the Note 5 in stores by the middle of September, with a SIM-free asking price of around £599 for the most basic version.
