Samsung’s Galaxy TabPro S could be the best Windows 10 tablet yet

The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is a 2-in-1 Windows 10 tablet that converts into a laptop thanks to a bundled smart cover. Here’s the full skinny, including specs and UK release info from CES 2016.

Samsung’s most recent tablets have been Android powerhouses, including the incredibly thin and gorgeous Galaxy Tab S2, but the Galaxy TabPro S – freshly launched at CES 2016 in Las Vegas – is a Windows 10 tablet that converts into a full-blown Windows laptop. And so far it’s looking like one of the best Windows 10 devices yet.

At just 6.3 millimetres thin, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is just as skinny as the Tab S2 which makes it nicely portable, despite the large 12-inch screen. Of course, at 693g it’s not exactly feather light and a lot more hefty than the iPad Air 2 at 437g.

A keyboard cover comes bundled with the Galaxy TabPro S, so you can quickly and easily convert the tablet into a full-on Windows 10 laptop. The cover is adjustable too, so you can easily alter the angle of the screen. A multi-port adapter featuring HDMI and USB ports (Type A & C) as well as a Bluetooth stylus pen can be bought separately.

The Galaxy TabPro S’ 12-inch AMOLED screen boasts a crisp 2160×1440 resolution and apparently produces ‘natural tones’, which is in stark contrast to Samsung’s usual uber-virant panels. Meanwhile, tucked inside you have a 2.2GHz Intel Core M processor backed by 4GB of RAM, which should provide reliable performance – although that’s also less power than the Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft, which packs a Core i processor.

There’s 128GB or 256GB of storage space inside the tablet for your files and apps. Rounding off the Galaxy TabPro S’ specs is a 5,200mAh battery, which Samsung promises will provide up to 10.5 hours of life per charge.

If the Galaxy TabPro S is priced right, it could be a highly enticing Windows 10 prospect thanks to its slender design, sharp and spacious screen and adjustable keyboard cover. It’s tipped for release in the UK in February 2016, but there’s no word on UK pricing just yet.

We’ll bring you a full Samsung Galaxy TabPro S review soon.
