Sony’s Lavender leaks: A selfie machine with a 13MP front camera?

Leaked specs for Sony’s new ‘Lavender’ phone state that it’ll roll with a selfie-tastic 13-megapixel front camera.

Other touted features of the Sony Lavender include a 13-megapixel main camera, a Full HD 1080p display and a curious bezel-less and button-free design.

According to the leak it will come with a MediaTek MT6752 64Bit 1.7GHz octa-core SoC and 2GB of RAM, which should deliver reasonably chipper performance. While we don’t yet know what size it will be, the leaker claims it will be bigger than the Sony Xperia C4, which boasts a 5.5-inch screen.

Though the specs and the press render aren’t official, they come to us via Upleaks, who’ve given us an early look at the HTC One (M9) in the past, which as it happened, turned out to be on the money. As with anything unofficial, make sure you keep a pinch of salt to hand.

The device reportedly comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop running under the hood. You can apparently have up to two SIMs on the in the Sony Lavender, though it’s unknown whether that will feature in a separate variant or be included in the standard iteration – dual SIM phones don’t typically get released in the UK.

There’s no word yet on when Sony is planning to unveil the Lavender. It could make an appearance at IFA 2015, which gets underway in Berlin on September 4, or it could officially break cover sooner.

In the meantime, we’ll keep our ears to the ground and bring you more as and when we have it.
