Toshiba AT200 confirmed: ultra-slim Android tablet

Toshiba has officially confirmed its new Android Honeycomb tablet, the ultra slim AT200

Announced at the IFA show in Berlin the tablet is just 7.7mm deep, making it thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (8mm) and Apple iPad 2 (8.8mm) and includes a 10.1 inch 1280×800 LED backlit screen.

It’s the second tablet announcement from Toshiba following the AT100, which was confirmed earlier this week.

Toshiba’s included a good selection of connections: some of the most exhaustive we’ve seen on a tablet, including microUSB, microSD, HDMI, WiFi and Bluetooth.

Instead of the including a Tegra processor like the Motorola Xoom and Asus EeePad Transformer, the AT200 includes a Texas Instruments OMPA 4430 1.2Ghz processor with 1GB RAM, while internal storage is 64GB.

Macro Perino from Toshiba comments: ‘With a thickness of 7.7mm and a weight of 558g, the Toshiba AT200 is highly mobile, yet extremely smart and powerful.’

Flash support is included out of the box and there are dual cameras, 5-megapixels at the rear and 2-megapixels at the front. Stereo speakers include Adaptive Sound Device Enhancer technology to replicate the effect of larger speakers. Toshiba quotes a battery life of 8 hours for video playback and web browsing

The Toshiba, AT200 is set to launch in Q4, with the AT100 landing this week.
