Virgin Media VM800 in pink: Budget BlackBerry wannabe

Alcatel isn’t the sexiest mobile phone manufacturer but it knows how to make an inexpensive phone. The Alcatel OT-800 aka Virgin Media VM800 only costs £40 on pay-as-you-go when bought with £10 credit (comes with 300 free texts), and Virgin Media is bundling six months free mobile web access (25MB/day).

Don’t be fooled by the smartphone-style looks, this is a basic phone but it does offer access to Facebook, IM services, a 2-megapixel camera and an expandable memory card slot. It’s not on our wish lists but if you can’t stand traditional keypads and your budget doesn’t stretch to a BlackBerry then you could do worse. More info on the Virgin Media site.
