Virgin Mobile offers one-off £25 six-month data deal: 1GB of mobile web per month

Virgin has announced new data deal for this summer, offering six months of mobile web for only £25.

On Virgin Mobile’s Addict pay-as-you-go SIM, you’ll net a whopping 1GB per month; go over the monthly allowance, and you’ll pay the standard rate (30p for 25MB, or £2 per MB) until the start of the next month.

You’ll also be able  to check on how much data you’ve used by texting or calling Virgin, whilst Android phone users can download a Virgin Mobile account app to instantly check on their funds. Virgin have said more apps are set to arrive on other smartphones in the near-future.

Director of Mobile at Virgin Media, Jamie Heywood, said: “This new offer is a fantastically affordable way to take advantage of the mobile web for pay-as-you-go customers.

“With consumers looking for ways to get the best value possible this new offer is perfect for the cost-conscious mobile social networker looking to take full advantage of their smartphone.”

It’s a bit of a bargain; and could prove very useful if you’re prone to a lot of outdoor internet browsing in the summer. 1GB per month is beyond the amount you get on most pay-monthly tariffs- it’s a pretty tempting deal- and stands up well against Three’s unlimited data plans, which cost a bit more.

We’re hoping that you’ll be able to access all the different apps  and features on your smartphone that demand a data connection on this deal, and we’ll be giving it a try over the next few days- our SIM is in the post.

The six-month deal can be used from now until 3rd January 2012, and you can get more details, the voucher and a SIM card in-store or online.
