Samsung Galaxy Star and Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo debut: Jelly Bean on a budget

Samsung has announced two entry-level smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy Star and Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo are aimed at the budget conscious youth market.

With similar dimensions and weighing 100.5g, the phones look very similar – both feature a 3.5-inch QVGA (320 x 240) screen and 2-megapixel primary camera.  Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is on board overlayed with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.

There are some slight differences – the Samsung Galaxy Star has a 1Ghz processor and the Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo a 750MHz processor. Both include dual-SIM card slots, which are typically used in developing countries like India or China, but not here in the UK.

Samsung is adding to its Galaxy range at a terrifically fast rate – the Samsung Galaxy Fame and Samsung Galaxy Young are set to launch in March and the affordable 4G offering, the Samsung Galaxy Express is expected before June.

There’s no news on pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Star or Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo, but reports online suggest both phones will be arriving in March, we’ve contacted Samsung UK to find out more and will update this piece accordingly.
