BlackBerry Torch 2 lights up in rumour land: BlackBerry OS 7, Qwerty, 5-megapixel camera, 8GB memory

A pair of pictures of what could be the BlackBerry Torch 2 have surfaced. The latest pics, which originated from TechnoBuffalo, show a silvery phone with a slide out keypad that is similar to the pic we saw a while back.

The TechnoBuffalo guys are claiming that the phone will run on the new BlackBerry OS 7. This would mean that the Torch 2 could support HTML5 rendering, HD video recording and playback and (gasp) come with an NFC chip. Recombu’s Mat ‘I Love NFC’ Smith is beside himself with excitement.

Other rumoured features of the Torch 2 include a 5-megapixel camera, a chunky 8GB of memory and a 3.17-inch touchscreen that sits above a slide-out Qwerty.

With a whole bunch of Mangoed WP7 phones on the horizon, Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich due to unwrap in the winter and the iPhone 5 coming at some point, RIM has got a lot of competition on it’s hands.

RIM wouldn’t comment on the leak when we spoke earlier. This information (however accurate) has got us excited about the Torch 2 all the same.
