Doctor Who, Sherlock and The Office are now available on Prime Instant Video in the UK.
The deal with BBC Worldwide will see the broadcaster’s current line up as well as classic series land on the streaming service for the first time.
Titles including Top Gear, Call the Midwife, Last Tango in Halifax and Life on Mars are available now on Prime Instant Video – the service formerly known as Lovefilm Instant – as well as classic comedies including Only Fools and Horses, Absolutely Fabulous, Blackadder and Red Dwarf.
Customers who subscribe to Amazon Prime, Amazon’s express next-day delivery service, now get Lovefilm Instant Prime Instant Video bundled in for free. However, the old annual price of £49 has jumped up to £79.
Amazon claims its video streaming service is the largest in the UK in terms of content with 15,000 episodes of TV programmes or movie titles.
Amazon and the BBC recently came together to revive Ripper Street for a third series following its cancellation by BBC executives.
The BBC Trust recently approved plans for the launch of BBC Store, where customers will be able to pay download BBC titles to own on a but-to-keep basis.
