What happens when my Prime Student trial finishes?
At the end of that generous six-month trial, you can opt to continue your Prime membership for just £39 per year. That’s basically half the cost of an annual Amazon Prime membership for us normal non-studenty folks, which considering how much you get in return, is pretty stunning value for money.
In student speak, it’s basically twenty pints of lager from your uni bar, or around five pints if you foolishly venture out into a real pub these days.
To continue your Prime membership after the trial ends, all you have to do is nothing at all – perfect for lazy student types. Your membership will automatically continue and your Amazon account will be charged. If you don’t want to be charged, you’ll have to cancel your membership through Amazon’s website before the very end of the trial period.
How do I sign up for Amazon Prime Student?
Just head over to the student page over on Amazon’s website and you can read all about the offer and get joined up for your free trial. All you’ll need to begin is an Amazon account, which is free to create if you don’t have one already.
Of course, you’ll also have to prove that you’re actually a student, to avoid any swindlers and hippies from jumping on-board. A university email address (ending in .ac.uk) is sufficient, otherwise you can follow these steps.
Send an e-mail to amazon-student-verification@amazon.co.uk from the e-mail address associated with your Amazon.co.uk account, after ensuring that your account’s bank or card details are up-to-date.
Inside of this email you’ll need to include a scan or image of:
- A valid NUS Extra or NUS Apprentice Extra card. This must show your name, university and date of expiry
- A proof of student status letter. This must be printed on official institution headed paper and include your name and address, course name, start date and expected graduation date
- A tuition bill for the current term. This must include your university’s name, course name, start date and your student address
- A tuition invoice for the current term. This must contain your name and your institution’s name
- An official acceptance letter for the upcoming term. This must be printed on official institution headed paper, including key info like your name and address, course name, enrolment date and your expected graduation date.
