Amazon has cut the cost of its one-day delivery Prime subscription ahead of the now-traditional Black Friday shopping bunfight.
Prime customers stump up £79/year for the privilege of not not having to pay for one-day delivery charges, which can be up to £7.99 per order.
Folks who sign up for Prime membership between now and Wednesday, November 18 will instead pay £59, saving £20 while annoying everyone who got duped by that 30-day free trial earlier this year.
On top of this, Primehood confers on its members early access to some exclusive Lightning Deals.

“Sign-ups to Prime always increase in the run-up to Christmas as customers want fast delivery for gifts as well the ability to stream popular movies and TV shows to keep the family entertained. This year, members will also be able to stream great Christmas music and get 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals, including during Black Friday Deals Week when there will more deals than ever before.”
Let’s hope that the Black Friday Lightning Deals will be a bit more exciting than this summer’s Prime Day sale.
Amazon says it’s got more than 7,000 deals lined up for this year’s Black Friday which takes place on November 27. Last Black Friday saw Amazon.co.uk process orders for over than 5.5 million items, which the shopping giant says is equivalent to 64 items a second.
As well as giving people who’d prefer to do the Christmas shopping from home some faster deliveries, Prime membership also affords you a free look in at Prime Instant Video.
Amazon’s on-demand streaming service is currently home to Mr. Robot, Outlander and Man In the High Castle and at some point in 2016 will welcome disgraced former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson and comrades back to British screens in a new as-of-yet-unnamed show.
Prime Instant Video normally costs £5.99/month.
