BBC reveals Premier League, FA Cup, Women’s Super League live and highlights details

The BBC has revealed its Premier League, FA Cup and Women’s Football live and highlights fixtures for 2015/16. 

While all of the live Premier League games will broadcast courtesy of Sky and BT, the BBC has secured a new three-year deal for highlights. As well as that, the Beeb has obtained live FA Cup coverage until 2018 and World Cup coverage until 2022. 

So if you can’t get Sky Sports or BT Sport for whatever reason, what football coverage can you enjoy for your £145.50 a year telly licence? 

Chelsea vs Arsenal FA Community Shield highlights

Ahead of the Premier League season kick off, MOTD will host a one-off Community Shield highlights programme on BBC One. BT Sport has live coverage rights and will also be broadcasting the match live in 4K Ultra HD on its new channel, as well as on BT Sport 1. 

Premier League highlights

Related: Freeview viewers to get 12 Champions League games via BT Sport ShowcaseGary Lineker and Ian Wright will return to MOTD on Saturday nights. From August 8 onwards, the team will provide commentary over Premier League highlights throughout the 2015/16 season. 

Highlights promise to be enhanced by a new MOTD companion section on the BBC Sport website and various BBC Sport apps. As well as streamlining social media chatter, you’ll also be able to vote for MOTD2’s Goal of the Month. 

FA Cup live and highlights

The BBC will broadcast up to 16 live matches along with highlights from every round from November onwards. 

Friday night live matches, special Sunday Final Scores plus Monday draw shows will round out the BBC’s FA Cup coverage. Extra digital catch-up services and access all areas coverage will continue to give extra prominence to the early rounds.

Thanks to a deal done in 2013, the BBC will share FA Cup live coverage with BT, which has previously broadcast FA Cup games on ESPN. 

Women’s FA Cup final live

The BBC will broadcast the Women’s FA Cup final live on BBC One on Saturday, August 1. 

Women’s Super League highlights

Two BBC One specials will be broadcast to capture the end of the Super League season. Highlights of all the main games will be shown on Sunday, September 27 and on Sunday, October 4, the final weekend. 

Regular Monday night slots on August 10 and 24 and September 7 will be broadcast with all these shows repeated on Saturday mornings on BBC Two.

BBC Radio 5 Live

If you’re nowhere near a TV set, laptop or phone or it’s simply more convenient to listen in, you can tune into to BBC Radio 5 Live, which will broadcast 128 Premier League games, along with Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League, Home Nations’ internationals, Scottish Premiership and Championship, Football League and women’s football. 

Home nations’ Euro 2016 qualifiers will also be broadcast on Radio 5 Live with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all coming up in August.
