BT Sport nets Suzi Perry for MotoGP presenting gig

BT has signed up former BBC and Gadget Show presenter Suzi Perry as the face of its MotoGP coverage.

The seasoned broadcaster, once thought to be a shoe-in for a gig in the revamped Top Gear, will mainly cover motor racing; as well as the MotoGP, Perry will present BT’s coverage of FIM Speedway races as well as the World Rally Championships on BT Sport.

While Perry’s former skills as a MotoGP presenter for BBC Sport will be put to good use, BT says that its Related: BT Sport Ultra HD’s 5.1.4 future plans sound great – Behind the scenes at the British MotoGP, How can I get BT Sport?latest signing will present ‘across a range of live sport and programming’, although it’s currently unclear what that means.

Perry joins the likes of Jake Humphrey, Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and, er, Michael Owen who currently handle hosting duties across BT Sport.

Perry, said: “I’m really excited to be joining BT Sport and working with their tremendous team. Motorsport continues to be massive in the UK and I can’t wait to bring BT Sport viewers all of the action from in front of the camera.”

BT’s signed Perry up just in time for the new MotoGP season, which starts on next Thursday, March 17 in Qatar. BT Sport’s got exclusive live coverage of the season until the end of November.

As with last season, it’s expected that select races are due to be shown in 4K Ultra HD; BT’s currently the only UK broadcaster that offers customers the chance to watch live sporting action in 4K, although Sky’s confirmed that it’s launching Ultra HD channels on new platform Sky Q later this year.
