BT TV numbers jump to over 900,000

BT’s quarterly results have shown a jump in the number of people taking BT Vision or BT YouView, now known collectively as BT TV.

In the last three months since BT last posted results, 70,000 customers have taken BT TV in one form or another, taking the company’s total number of TV customers to 903,000. This represents an increase of 154,000 customers from a year ago.

BT’s TV subscription figures still don’t come close to catching up with Sky and Virgin Media but the UK’s biggest ISP has been busy revamping its TV offering.

Sky Sports 1 and 2 are available alongside BT Sport, meaning customers can get complete live coverage of the English Premier League if they wish.

BT TV currently offers customers a BT YouView box as standard alongside BT Broadband (TV Essential) and the fibre-based BT Infinity services (TV Entertainment). If you want to add any BT Sport or Sky Sports channels you’ll be offered a BT Vision+ box instead.

TV Essential (£15/month) lets you access Sky Movies on demand and BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2 as extras. TV Entertainment (£20/month) lets you add HD channels, kids channels, all 11 Sky Movies channels, Sky Sports 1 and 2, BT Sport 1 and 2 and ESPN.

Over 70 digital terrestrial channels, the same ones you’d get on Freeview come as standard on both BT TV offerings.
