Virgin Media’s TV Anywhere has more channels than rival Sky Go, but is available on less devices

Joining the three PSB catch-up channels is UMP Movies will airs the best of Bollywood movies.

The four new channels will join the other channels already available on Virgin’s service, taking the total number available on TV Anywhere up to 113. This sees Virgin Media continuing its on-demand arms race with Sky.

Sky Go added five more channels earlier in the week. The latter service now has 71 channels available via its online service, so it still has some way to catch up with rival Virgin Media.

Virgin added an additional 15 international channels to its TV Anywhere service at the beginning of October including Al Jazeera (Arabic and English), ARY News, B4U Music, E!, Forces TV, France 24 (English and French), Ginx, Lahme, NDTV 24*7, NHK World HD, The Africa Channel, TV5 and Zing.

Despite Sky Go being available for longer, Virgin Media has stolen a march on its pay TV competitor in terms of channel choice. Sky has offered a mobile viewing service since 2006 but the rebranding and launch of Sky Go in 2011, saw subscribers able to access as facsimile of their Sky TV subscription on their phones – and watch live TV channels – for the first time.

Virgin TV Anywhere  launched in July last year and is available to all Virgin customers online. Those who have signed up for the TiVo service can also get it on their mobile with the iOS or Android app which is available on more than 30 devices including the LG G3.

Sky Go is available on all iPhones from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 5S and 5C and all iPads from the first edition up to the iPad Air and Mini 2.

You can also get Sky Go on over 50 Android devices including the HTC One (M8), Samsung Galaxy S5, Nexus 7 (original and 2013 edition) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.
