Google has launched a $15 (£9) Ethernet adapter for Chromecast, helping those who suffer from patchy WiFi cast content to their tellies.
The cheap as chips adapter is a US-only product for now and has currently sold out on Google’s store.
The adapter itself is a fairly simple bit of tech – it’s a mains adapter with a 10/100 Ethernet port and a micro USB wire. You’d swap the old Chromecast mains adapter out for this new one which provides both power and connectivity.

At the time of writing, it’s not available on Amazon’s US store either but we expect given the appetite for Google’s hugely successful streaming stick that more will be available soon.
As much as folks can’t seem to get enough of Chromecast, there’s no denying that support for single band-only WiFi means that getting Netflix, iPlayer and Now TV streams working in that spare bedroom in the attic can be a pain.
Until Google releases some more Ethernet adapters and a mate in the States can pick one up for you, your best best is to invest in some Powerline adapters if getting WiFi to those remote corners of your home is an issue.
