Constantine episodes to hit Amazon Prime Instant Video hours after US broadcast

Episodes of demon-slaying detective show Constantine will be available to watch on Prime Instant Video hours after they’ve aired in the US.

The first part of the fantasy-noir, ‘Non Est Asylum’, is available to watch now and new episodes will arrive on Prime Instant Video every Saturday.

Constantine is based on the DC Comics Hellblazer series and follows Matt Ryan (Criminal Minds) as the sarcastic titular detective.

While the debut is already available, Amazon is touting Constantine as part of a Hallowe’en takeover that will feature Resident Evil: Retribution, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 and Evil Dead

Chris Bird, director of content strategy at Amazon Instant Video said: “It’s the one night of the year when audiences around the world are looking for a fright, so we’re delighted to be making the UK exclusive first episode of Constantine available to Prime Instant Video customers this Hallowe’en.”

Constantine is a great addition to the catalogue of spooky TV shows and frightening films already made available for unlimited streaming during our Hallowe’en takeover, featuring alongside classics like The Craft and An American Werewolf in London and contemporary favourites like Warm Bodies.”

Constantine arrives before the greatly anticipated return of Ripper Street, which will premiere on Prime Instant Video before coming to BBC One.

The Victorian crime show will also be coming to Prime Instant Video on an episodic basis. After a double bill of the first and second parts, a new dose of Ripper Street will be delivered every Friday at 9:00pm.

Unlike Netflix which is letting its customers binge watch their way through an entire series of Orange Is The New Black once it’s ready to go, Amazon seems to be adopting the old-fashioned trend of scheduled broadcasts.

While you won’t be able to munch your way through everything right away, once every episode of Constantine and Ripper Street has launched, you’ll be able to carve a bloody path through your weekend then.

Prime Instant Video costs £5.99/month and is included for free with Amazon Prime, which currently costs £79/year. New customers can currently enjoy 30 days of free Prime Instant Video as part of a trial, after which you’ll need to pay the regular rate.
