Thousands of homes in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey have completed their digital switchover.
Analogue TV was switched off and the three ‘core’ Freeview multiplexes on the Hannington transmitter group turned up to full power.
The group includes relays at Aldbourne, Alton, Chisbury, Hemdean HP/VP, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Lambourn, The Bournes and Tidworth.
The three commercial multiplexes are only available from the main Hannington transmitter, and will be turned up to full power – increasing their range – in April 2012.
Following the analogue switch-off for BBC Two on 8 February, the remaining analogue signals for BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 ceased by 00:02 on Wednesday, February 22.
The new digital signals entered official service at Hannington at 6am, with the last of the relays completed by 12:53.
The core public-service multiplexes carry around 20 channels including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and the Freeview HD channels.
The commercial multiplexes include G.O.L.D., Quest, Dave, Sky News, Yesterday and Viva among around 20 more channels, plus several radio, adult and Top-Up TV channels.
