EE 4G comes to Blackpool, Windsor and 10 more UK towns

EE 4G comes to Blackpool, Windsor and 10 more UK townsEE 4G has increased its 4G coverage bringing faster mobile broadband speeds to Blackpool, Windsor and 10 more UK towns today.

As the nationwide rollout continues, EE 4G also touches down in Aylesbury, Berkhamsted, Billericay, Brentwood, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Lytham St Annes, Marlow, Pontefract and Thame.

This increases the areas in which 4G mobile broadband is available and means those who’ve picked up the iPhone 5 will have more areas to show off how fast their broadband speeds are.

Olaf Swantee, EE’s chief executive officer said: “Our 4G rollout is ensuring that we’re connecting people right across the UK to one of the fastest mobile networks in the world, as quickly as possible.”

EE aims to get its 4G services, or ‘4GEE’ as it likes to call it, live in 18 more towns by the end of June by which time its speed doubling programme should have launched. By the end of 2013, it’s aiming to have 70 per cent of the UK population able to access its services.

“Consumers and businesses in the UK use mobile internet more than any other market, and we’re working to meet that demand right across the country. We’ll roll out 4G to 98 per cent of people in 2014, including the double-speed 4G that will launch this summer,” Swantee added.

The summer speed doubling plan will see top download speeds leap to 80Mbps. It will initially hit Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, and Sheffield before rolling out across the country.
