EE has revealed that 1 million customers are now using its 4G network.
More than 100 UK towns can now get EE’s 4G services and the network wants to have 70 per cent of the country able to access 4G by the end of the year.
Since launching in October 2012, EE hasn’t sat around. As well as reaching over 100 locations, EE has initiated a phased speed doubling programme, increasing the headline speeds available on its 4G network from 40Mbps to 80Mbps and again to 150Mbps.

We set a new standard for UK mobile networks, and the way consumers and businesses are using their mobile devices in this country has been transformed.
“We have seen one of the fastest adoption rates in the world and I’m immensely proud to announce today that we have reached a significant milestone – one million 4G customers.
“We know that all communities across Britain want 4G, not just those in the big urban centres, and we’re committed to continuing to roll out superfast mobile at this record breaking pace.”
Swantee also mentioned that new 4G prices were in the pipeline, following O2 and Vodafone’s 4G launches and Three’s forthcoming plans. This could be the first signs of a hoped-for price war. There’s no solid details available at moment but EE mentioned ‘best value plans,’ suggesting that cheaper options could be on the cards.
Three has promised not to charge customers currently on its 3G plans any more for 4G and it will continue to offer unlimited data.
O2’s 4G services have only just launched, with Bradford, Leeds and London benefitting first. Vodafone 4G is currently only available in London. Three will launch its 4G services in December, by which time O2 and Vodafone should have launched 4G in 13 cities.
