Hooking up to WiFi hotspots can be tricky when you’re out and about, but the Solwise USBCatcher dongle lets you plug in an external antenna for extra sensitivity.
Fully-titled the NET-WL-USBCatcher, it’s an outdoors-proof USB WiFi dongle with a 4.5m cable and an antenna connector.
Paired with a suitable N-type connected antenna, it can put your caravan or chalet in reach of the WiFi at the holiday park, or just connect a summer-house to your home broadband.
The NET-WL-USBCatcher supports 802.11 B/G/N WiFi, with data rates up to 150Mbps on the 2.4GHz channel, and it costs £32.44.
It’s weatherproof and operates in temperatures from 0-50°C, with support for Windows 7, Vista32/64, XP32/64, 2000, Linux 2.6, and Mac OS 10.3 – 10.7.
Solwise also supplies compatible antennas from £18.82, complete with fitting brackets.
