The Force Awakens on Philips Android TVs with

Pay per view streaming service is rolling out to 2015/16 Philips Android TVs. 

Like iTunes and TalkTalk TV Store (née Blinkbox), only charges you based on what you watch rather than a single monthly fee. You can buy or rent titles including Game of Thrones, Revenant, Creed and recent Star Wars hit The Force Awakens in SD or HD and watch across multiple devices including iOS and Android phones, Freesat set-top boxes and smart TVs from LG, Samsung and Panasonic

Commenting on the new partnership, TP Vision Global Marketing Director Giuseppe Puglisi: ‘It’s fantastic that Philips TVs will be the first to offer a great service like 

“The addition of this new service, combined with the recent announcement of a number of other major video streaming and gaming partners, is further proof that we intend to not only continually improve our Android Smart TV offering but to also make it the best available.”

As well as opting for a payment model which some customers may find more flexible, there’s also a selection of 4K Ultra HD content available in the UK – but Philips smart TV buyers won’t be able to access any of this, even if the panel has the requisite number of pixels immediately. Recombu understands that the reason for this is more to do with rights than any technical limitations, so this could change in the future. 

Other Android TV apps available for download in the UK now include Netflix, Crunchyroll, Vevo, Twitch and Pluto TV.
