Pure fibre ISP Gigaclear has revealed plans to bring gigabit fibre broadband to thousands of properties in rural Hertfordshire.
Gigaclear plans to bring its services, which provide download and upload speeds of up to 1Gbps (1,000Mbps) to roughly 4,000 homes and businesses in the home county over the next three years.
These properties are due to be connected as part of the Connected Counties public-private partnership, which Gigaclear plans to use as a springboard to bring its services to more properties in the future.

“By making a commercial investment in the region, Gigaclear will be able to turn some of the most difficult to reach communities in Hertfordshire into the best-connected broadband areas in the world.”
This second commercial rollout is expected to initially extend to the surrounding areas of Much Hadham, High Wych, Eastwick, Allen’s Green, Perry Green, Green Tye, Widford and Gilston Park. As Gigaclear plots the course of its networks based on customer demand, it’s appealing for would-be customers to get in touch.
Under the Connected Counties project, the great majority of customers in Hertfordshire will be able to order either FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) of FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) from ISPs using BT’s Openreach network.
The £18.6m contract for the first phases of Connected Counties was awarded to BT, which will be rolling out superfast broadband (delivering download speeds of at least 25Mbps) to 95 per cent of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire properties by the end of 2017.
Gigaclear is setting up a separate, FTTP-exclusive network, the first phase of which it expects to be completed by June 2018.
