How can I watch the 2015 Rugby World Cup?

The 2015 England Rugby World Cup kicks off this Friday with England facing down Fiji at Twickenham and you can watch the action live on ITV and ITV HD.

Fans of free to air TV rejoice; ITV has snapped up coverage rights to all of the 2015 Rugby World Cup games and it’ll be broadcasting them all in standard definition on ITV1 and in Full HD on ITV HD. 

Folks who aren’t near a TV set or want to watch via catch-up later will also be able to stream the coverage on ITV Player, which is available online and on iOS and Android devices. There’s a few other ways you can watch online too – we’ve detailed them all below. 

Digital terrestrial TV – Freeview, YouView, BT TV, TalkTalk TV and EE TV

If you’ve got a Freeview HD or YouView set-top box or TV, you can tune in to all of the England Rugby World Cup games on ITV, ITV+1 and ITV HD in England and Wales, STV, STV+1 and STV HD in Scotland and UTV, UTV+1 and UTV HD in Northern Ireland. 

Wherever you are in the UK, you’ll find the games on channels 3, 33 and 103 respectively. 

ITV will also be showing additional games on ITV 4 (channel 24) and ITV 4+1 (channel 62) in instances where fixtures clash. 

BT TV, TalkTalk and YouView customers can also catch up via the backwards-scrolling EPG or launch ITV Player straight from the catch-up and on-demand menu if they want to stream any missed games. 

Sky

Sky customers can watch all of the England Rugby World Cup action on ITV (channel 103)  ITV+1 (channel 131) and ITV HD (channel 178) on Sky. 

Sky customers have the added bonus of being able to watch games shown on ITV4 in high definition on ITV 4 HD (channel 120) ITV 4+1 (channel 206) as well as in SD (channel 268). 

If you’re not able to watch the games on TV, you can stream content live via Sky Go – available for iOS and Android devices, Windows and Mac desktops and laptops. 

If you want to watch games on a games console (PlayStation 3-4, Xbox 360-One), you’ll need a Sky Go Extra subscription, which costs an additional £5/month on top of your Sky TV subscription. 

Virgin Media

If you’ve got Virgin TV you can tune into the action live on ITV (channel 103) and ITV+1 (channel 114) in SD and ITV HD (channel 113) if you want to watch in high definition. 

Like Sky customers, if you’ve got cable you also have the option of watching games shown on ITV 4 in SD (channel 118) and HD (channel 178). Catch-up channel ITV 4+1 (channel 175) is available in SD only. 

You can also access ITV Player through the catch-up apps section of the Virgin Media TiVo box and watch games on the go through Virgin TV Anywhere. 

Freesat 

Freesat viewers can tune in to all of the England Rugby World Cup matches live on ITV in standard definition (channel 103) and HD (channel 119). If you miss the kick off you can catch up on the timeshift ITV+1 channel (112) or load up ITV Player, if you’ve got a connected Freetime from Freesat box. 

Additional games will be screened on ITV 4 (channel 117) and ITV 4+1 (channel 155). 

ITV Player

ITV Player is available online and requires Adobe Flash Player to be installed for the web version to work. 

You can also access ITV Player on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Roku and Now TV boxes as well as PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 (via the browser only). 

TVPlayer 

You can also stream ITV content through TVPlayer, a free multi-channel streaming service that’s available for iOS, Android and Amazon Kindle tablets and Fire TV. 

When is kick-off time for England vs Fiji?

The inaugural England vs Fiji match of the 2015 Rugby World Cup Kicks off at 8:00pm on Friday, September 18 and will be shown on ITV and ITV HD, with programming beginning at 7:25pm. 

On Saturday, September 19, ITV will broadcast the Tonga vs Georgia game at 12:00pm, Ireland vs Canada at 2:30pm and South Africa vs Japan at 4:35pm on ITV and ITV HD. 

France vs Italy kicks off at 8:00pm on the same day and will be broadcast on ITV 4 and ITV 4 HD.
