Demo footage of ITV Hub, the next generation of ITV Player that’s launching November 24, has been uploaded to YouTube.
The footage that’s been uploaded gives us a glimpse of how ITV Hub will look and feel on the iPad version of the service. Visually, it’s very similar to the current ITV Player app, only with a fetching circle-wipe animation that kicks in when you swipe left and right between channels.
ITV Hub will initially be rolling out to Freeview Play and Amazon Fire TV set-top boxes as well as iOS devices and eventually other platforms including Android.

Paul Kanareck, ITV’s director of online, said: “With over 50 hours of new content every week, the ITV Hub is the digital destination for the very latest must-see programmes and our new, swipe to live feature is a brilliant way to bring viewers even closer to the programmes they love.
“With its emphasis on live and lively, the ITV Hub launch campaign has captured the personality of our VOD – a brilliant digital service where there is always something new to enjoy.”
As well as bringing a fresh look to ITV’s catch-up services, ITV Hub will launch in tandem with new episodes of Family Guy and American Dad!, hitting ITV2, marking the first time Seth MacFarlane’s animated hits have been available on a public service broadcaster’s catch-up platform.
While BBC Three has been the home of Family Guy and American Dad! for years, both of these shows were notably absent from BBC iPlayer, due to rights issues.
