Lovefilm Box Office HD has launched on TalkTalk TV, bringing high definition movie streams to the service.
The new HD service lets customers rent recent hits such as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Argo as well as The Dark Knight Rises and all of the Twilight movies. Ang Lee’s celebrated Life of Pi will also be available from April 29 onwards.
TalkTalk says that in order to enjoy movies in HD you’ll need a download speed of at least 5Mbps to get 1080p Full HD movies. If you’re not getting this speed then you won’t see the HD appearing as an option on Lovefilm Box Office.

Lovefilm Box Office HD is a pay-per-view service available through the TalkTalk Player. Movie rentals start at £2.50 per film and you get a 48 hour viewing window. Popular recent hits like The Hobbit, Taken 2 and Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 cost a bit more – £4.50 per rental.
The recent launch of Sky Movies Disney also means that TalkTalk customers who take the £15/month Sky Movies boost can stream Disney classics like The Lion King, Aladdin and Pirates of the Caribbean as well.
That said, we can’t help but find it slightly funny that this demo TalkTalk has uploaded to YouTube isn’t available in HD…
