Lovefilm has taken the wraps off of ten pilot episodes for future Lovefilm-exclusive shows.
Produced by Amazon Studios exclusively for Amazon Prime Instant Video in the US and Lovefilm Instant over here in the UK, many of the new pilots announced today are ones we’ve heard something about before.
There’s The After, written and directed by X-Files creator Chris Carter and Mozart In The Jungle, based on Blair Tindell’s revelatory book about the not-so-highbrow goings on behind the scenes of a classical orchestra.
As well as this, Lovefilm Instant subscribers can walk the beat with the pilot episode of Bosch, based on Michael Connelly‘s detective novels, Transparent, a dark comedy from writer and director Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under) and The Rebels, a sports comedy about a widow who inherits a professional football team.
Kids will be able to enjoy live action adventure Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, animated comedy Hardboiled Eggheads and the Maker Shack Agency, starring a team of teenage inventors. For pre-schoolers there’s The Jo B. & G. Raff Show and Wishenpoof! written by Angela Santomero, creator of Blue’s Clues.
As with the first run of Lovefilm pilots, viewers will vote with their eyeballs to decide the fate of each of these new shows. Simon Morris, Chief Marketing Officer of Lovefilm, said: “The first wave of pilots proved incredibly popular with members providing feedback en masse. The initiative is unique in that it puts the viewer at the heart of the decision making process in deciding the shows they’ll be watching in the future.
“With so many Hollywood heavyweights involved in the latest wave of pilots it’s well worth visiting Lovefilm to see what’s on offer.”
Customers can watch the pilots online or through many of the Lovefilm Instant apps on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Kindle Fire tablets, Xbox, PlayStation, Wii and many other connected devices and smart TVs.
