Now TV finally brings Sky Sports and Movies to the Sony PlayStation 3

Now TV, Sky’s movies and Premier League football on-demand streaming service has finally arrived on the Sony PlayStation 3.

The streaming service can be downloaded for free on the PS3 now and is available to Now TV subscribers.

Now TV gives you access to 20 new premiers each month, at least 12 months before they’re available on the likes of Netflix and Lovefilm and with the Sky Sports Day Pass, access to a live football stream.

Read Recombu Digital’s guide to Now TVOver the coming season, Now TV will give PS3 owners access to live events such as British & Irish Lions Tour, every race from the Formula One season, grand slam tennis, golf majors and the Heineken Cup. Starting in August, Sky Sports will also kick off its biggest Premier League season ever, showing 116 live games across 2013/14.

Gidon Katz, Director of Now TV says: “More and more consumers are demanding easy access to a greater choice of high-quality entertainment over internet-connected devices – and Now TV is here to meet that demand. Following the addition of PlayStation 3, our customers now have another way of streaming to their main TV screen, while continuing to enjoy access out and about via iPad and smartphones. At the same time as we’re rolling Now TV out to new platforms and devices, we’re also preparing to increase the range and choice of great Sky content that our customers can access.”

Now TV costs £8.99/month for access to the Sky Movies Pass (£15.99/month after the first three months) and £9.99/day for the Sky Sports Day Pass. While theses prices are not as cheap as the streaming competition, what you’re paying for is Sky’s premium TV content.

Fergal Gara, Vice President and Managing Director for Sony Computer Entertainment UK said: “Adding Sky’s amazing content via Now TV to the PlayStation 3’s services is a real boon for our millions of UK customers. Streaming great and exclusive sports and movie content to the family TV is a huge enhancement to the PlayStation entertainment portfolio.”

Now TV launched back in July 2012 and it seems like only yesterday we headed down to the launch event. It’s certainly taken a while but now Sky’s streaming service is finally available on the PS3.
