Reader Awards for best provider: Recombu Awards winner

The Recombu Awards aren’t just about us lot lording over the world of consumer tech; we also throw the vote open to you, the readers, to tell us who you think is the UK’s best ISP and/or TV provider.

As the votes came in it was clear who the winner was going to be. The result, we’re sure, must have something to do with the fact that this TV provider, despite its premium prices, is present in over 12 million homes across the UK – that’s a customer footprint that’s almost as big as that of Freeview’s.

It might also have something to do with the fact that as an ISP, it’s the second-biggest by subscriber size and is aggressively discounting is superfast FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) services.

It might be to do with the fact that it’s the first place that folks here in the UK can (legally) get their annual fantasy fix from Game of Thrones. It might be the live and exclusive Premier League games and blockbuster movies that saw several of you cast your votes in one particular direction.

Whatever your reason – maybe it’s all of the above – you, the readers, voted Sky as the best provider of broadband and TV services for 2015.

We’re keen to get your thoughts on this verdict – and, indeed, all the others – in the comments, so let us know. We’d also like to hear your thoughts on Sky Q, the recently-announced smart TV system from Sky which is bringing 4K content, seamless remote viewing and the ability to record up to four shows at once, amid other things, in 2016.

Finally we’d like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who took part in the voting process. The winner of the grand prize – an Apple Watch Sport – will be revealed soon.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading all of our articles and watching our videos. We’ll be back again next year for the 2016 Recombu Awards ceremony, so start thinking about who you’re going to vote for next year.
