UK-based Roku owners can now smarten their streamers up with custom themes and backgrounds.
If you’re the owner of one of Roku’s smart little streaming boxes you can now bring a slice of personality to your device, thanks to the addition of custom themes.
Previously, personalising your Roku media streamer consisted of changing the home screen colour from purple to something else, but now the company has introduced custom themes featuring some of your favourite TV shows and movies to help you stamp a little bit of “you” on your hardware.
You’ll now be able to select from an initial offering of ten home screen themes, with more on the way, featuring titles like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Fast & Furious, The Big Lebowski and Adventure Time, though they’ll cost you, with prices ranging from 69p to £1.99.
The popularity of Roku’s diminutive devices has increased in recent years, owing to their solid build quality and impressive software features, and the newly launched 2015 iteration of the Roku 2 has been on the receiving end of some pretty effusive praise since its launch, with folk complementing the device for its user friendly UI, useful search function and rich roster of apps and channels.
To tart your Roku up, all you need to do is navigate to the new “Themes” section of the Roku Channel Store and choose your new theme. Once you’ve done that you can manage your device’s aesthetic by hitting up the Settings menu and choosing the Themes option.
