Sky Movies app for Android brings 600 films to your phone

Sky has launched a new Sky Movies app for Android which’ll let owners of phones like the Samsung Galaxy S3 watch films on the go.

The free app is available to Sky TV customers who have the Movies pack as part of their subscription. Customers can stream films available on the 11 Sky Movies channel anywhere on their Android phone or tablet provided they have a 3G, 4G or WiFi connection.

You can also use the Sky Movies app to set remote recordings of movies on your Sky+ box. This saves you from having to close the Sky Movies and open up the Sky+ app if you’re browsing through the movie channels and spot something coming up that you’d like to record later.

Right now you can stream over 600 movies on the Sky Movies app for Android. By the end of the month, you’ll also be able to stream movies from the Sky Movies Disney channel.

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies said: “A must-have for film fans, the Sky Movies app helps customers explore the fantastic range of movies available for them to enjoy at home or on the move as part of their subscription. The app complements the UK’s most popular film subscription service and forms part of our continued commitment to offer customers ways to discover and enjoy more of the year’s biggest blockbusters than any online film subscription service.”

Sky has also thrown in an additional At The Movies feature which lets you search for nearby cinema listings if you fancy a night out at the big screen instead.
