Sky Q subscribers could be enjoying some eye-popping documentary action in 4K Ultra HD this year, courtesy of new channel Insight TV.
The factual and reality channel, which features World’s Strongest Man-alike Spartan X and street magic show Around the World in 80 Tricks in its line up, will come to both Sky TV platforms later this year.
It’s currently unclear if it will arrive before Sky is ready to launch 4K Ultra HD content on Sky Q.
Sky has already confirmed that sports, movies and entertainment content will be available in 4K on Sky Q and has hinted that the new service will be launching by the summer. Insight TV, which launched last October, is already producing a range of Ultra HD content.

Mariam Zamaray, CEO of Insight TV’s parent company TERN International, said that discussions with Sky were already underway about a 4K version of the channel launching ‘as soon as possible’.
While this doesn’t mean that a 4K version of Insight TV will launch in tandem with other channels Sky’s preparing, shows like Inside Football and Losing Traction could complement Sky’s Premier League football and Formula 1 coverage nicely.
Given that Sky Q also offers subscribers access to a host of on-demand content, Insight TV’s live streams of extreme sports could sit well next to Red Bull TV. It’s unclear whether or not any streamed content will be offered alongside Full HD and 4K broadcast channels.
Sky spokespeople have yet to confirm when Insight TV might be landing on Sky EPGs here in the UK.
