Sky Sports exclusively bags US Open for the next five years

Sky Sports has scored rights to the US Open for the next five years.

From 2015 to 2019, Sky Sports will have exclusive broadcast rights to all four days from the US Open along with the US Women’s Open, the US Women’s Amateur Championship and the 2018 Curtis Cup Match between the UK and Ireland and the US.

This follows Sky Sports bagging exclusive rights to the US Masters in 2015, strengthening Sky’s position as the premier pay TV provider for golfing fans.

“Only on Sky Sports can viewers watch European golfers take on the best in the world in the US Open and we’re delighted to take our partnership with the USGA into its 26th year.”

Viewers will also be able to see coverage of the US Senior Open and the US Amateur Championship for a further five years as well as the 2017 Walker Cup Match from the Los Angeles Country Club.

Mike Davis, executive director of the USGA, said: “Sky has been one of our most important broadcast partners for more than two decades.”

“Sky is the destination for golf in the UK, and we are excited and proud that our championships will continue to have a home on their many platforms.”

Away from golf, Sky has announced plans to pack its Champion League coverage onto new channel Sky Sports 5, which will not be available on BT TV.
