Sky has snapped up comic books legend Stan Lee to write his first UK-based drama Lucky Man.
The show features Cold Feet, Bloody Sunday and Hobbit stat James Nesbitt in the title role, where he plays (shocker) a policeman. DI Harry Clayton is a hard-nosed cop with a gambling problem.
After his wife and child leave him, his fortunes appear to be literally turned around when he receives an apparently magical charm that allows him to influence luck.
Lee said: “Luck has always been a fascinating subject to me, and I am excited to finally share that fascination with audiences around the world. With all the creative projects I have worked on, I sure am a lucky man myself and I am excited to be working with Sky 1 and Carnival Films on this latest project.”
The show will follow in the wake of superhero dramas Arrow, which is currently enjoying its third series on Sky 1, with more details on season 2 of The Flash still to be confirmed.
The Lucky Man is joined by Eve Best (Nurse Jackie, The Honourable Woman) as Clayton’s wife, Sienna Guillory (Fortitude, Luther, Love Actually), Amara Karan (The Darjeeling Limited, Kidnap and Ransom), Darren Boyd (Spy, Fortitude, Case Sensitive), Omid Djalili (Moonfleet, Pirates of the Caribbean), Jing Lusi (Holby City) and Kenneth Tsang (Die Another Day).

Lucky Man is the latest original drama to be announced by Sky, which has scored a hit with Fortitude. Rights to the Svalbard-based crime thriller were bought by an additional 12 international broadcasters ahead of launch.
The second season of Penny Dreadful, a Sky and Showtime co-production, is due to land on UK screens this May.
