Orange suffers from free offer withdrawal

Orange copped a fat sack of broadband customer complaints this autumn as it withdrew its free internet offer and forced customers to take up line rental.

Complaints about broadband providers levelled out for the first time, after almost halving since Ofcom started recording them at the start of 2011.

Orange almost doubled the rate of broadband complaints to the media regulator when it told customers they would have to start paying line rental to continue enjoying their internet connection.

The fruit-coloured telcoms brand, now owned by EE, said: “We are of course disappointed by these latest results and will take on board the findings of the Ofcom report as we strive to offer our customers the best service at all times.”

TalkTalk – previously the most-complained-about ISP since records began – continued to reduce moans to an all-time low, but like BT, it’s still above the industry average.

Sky remained the least-griefing broadband provider for a year, significantly below-average along with Virgin Media.
