Vintage TV pops up on Freeview channel 242

Freeview HD viewers will soon be able to catch up with classic hits from Vintage TV, a music channel playing hits from the 20th Century.

The retrotastic channel, which may well appeal to the type of person who attends the Goodwood vintage festival and habitually series links The Great British Bake Off, is available now on channel 242.

The channel is broadcast via Arqiva’s Connect TV service, which requires you to have a broadband connection.

If you can get BBC One HD on your set top box and you’ve got a 2Mbps broadband connection you should be able to get Vintage TV. If your set-top box or TV set doesn’t automatically detect Vintage TV in the EPG you might need to retune or check for updates.

Vintage TV has published an exhaustive list of Freeview TVs and boxes that can get the new channel, so if you don’t see your hardware on there, you might not be able to get it.

As well as playing music video hits from yesteryear, Vintage TV also broadcasts documentaries and video content shot by Vintage TV’s online community.

Virgin TV viewers got a dose of Vintage TV back in 2013. The channel, which regularly draws over a million viewers, launched in September 2010 and is also available on Sky 369 and Freesat 515.
