Virgin makes 30Mbps & TiVo standard in new ‘Collections’ for broadband, TV and home phone

TiVo and 30Mbps broadband are now part of Virgin Media’s basic service as it launches three Collections for broadband, TV and home phone.

Virgin’s top tier now includes 100Mbps broadband for all its cable-network customers, ahead of this summer’s speed-doubling rollout.

The 100Mbps service now reaches all 13 million homes and businesses passed by Virgin’s cable network, with Virgin typically reaching 95 per cent or better of its advertised speed.

Collections prices start at £25/month, with six months half-price for new customers who sign up to an 18-month contract, and customers can mix and match broadband, TV and phone as required.

Andrew Barron, chief operating officer at Virgin Media said: “Virgin Media has been leading the evolution of digital entertainment in the UK, and with services such as TiVo and 100Mb, we’ve catalysed a massive growth in the consumption of digital entertainment.

“This is the first time we’ve combined these leading products in this way and these ground-breaking Collections mark a new chapter for digital services in the UK, with superfast broadband and next-generation TV services now attracting the mass consumer market and families looking for the best way to enjoy their digital lives across the numerous connected devices found inside – or outside – the home today.”

The Collections are on 12-month minimum contracts, and prices don’t include compulsory line rental at £13.90/month, with e-billing and Direct Debit payment, and there’s a £49.95 installation fee.

All of Virgin’s broadband services come with the SuperHub dual-band wireless ‘N’ router and a security suite featuring parental controls, that’s free as long as you subscribe.

TV services come with access to Catch Up TV (featuring BBC iPlayer, ITV Net Player, 4OD, Demand Five and Sky Anytime on Virgin Media), Virgin TV on Demand, and basic HD at no extra cost.
