Virgin Media TiVo nabs Nollywood Movies plus nine international channels

Virgin Media customers with the M+, L, XL TV packages can now tune into ten more channels including Nigerian channel Nollywood Movies. 

The premium channel will be the UK’s first 24 hour movie channel dedicated to showcasing 
the best of the Nigerian film industry as well as African soaps including Tinsel, Windeck and in January, new series Calabash

Alfred Soroh, executive director at Nollywood Movies said: “We are delighted to launch our channel on the Virgin Media platform and believe viewers will enjoy the variety of movies and soaps on offer.”

HUM Europe, which promises a range of Pakistani dramas, soaps and entertainment programming also launches today. 

Stephane David, Virgin Media’s executive director of content said: “The arrival of these international channels on Virgin Media means our TV customers can enjoy even more exciting programming from around the world at the touch of a button. 

“With content spanning everything from international news, sitcoms and dramas to soaps, movies and comedies there are plenty of shows to keep the whole family entertained.” 

A further eight channels will also be available to watch on Virgin Media TiVo boxes through the Worldbox app. Today, TiVo owners can stream Ukrainian entertainment channel 1+1 International, Sic International from Portugal, Canal 24 Horas from Spain and Tunisian entertainment channel Nessma. 

In January, EuroChannel and BFM TV from France will join the service alongside Ukraine Today and Russian entertainment channel CTC. 

Virgin Media’s line up of international channels also includes Zee TV, Star Plus, Sony Max and Al Jazeera Arabic. 

The new channels come in the wake of TalkTalk adding several international Boosts to its YouView-based TV service, giving punters the option to add African, Arabic and Brazilian channels from an extra £10/month.
