A man has stomped a giant wolf’s head into an Alpine mountain side in honour of Game of Thrones, which soon returns to UK screens.
International snow artist Simon Beck was signed up by Sky to create the monstrously huge work of art, which is roughly the size of two and half football pitches. Beck took the better part of a day to carve the huge sigil of House Stark over 32 kilometres of thick Alpine snow.
The choice of the Stark sigil was reportedly inspired by the fall of fan favourite Jon Snow who we saw coming to a rather sharp end at the previous season’s close. Although if you ask us, a big picture of Jon Snow’s face in actual snow would have been a more fitting tribute.
Zai Bennett, director of Sky Atlantic said: “Set in the alpine snow, having taken over 13 hours and covering 32.5 kilometres Simon Beck’s amazing Stark sigil from Game of Thrones is the perfect tribute to a truly epic TV show. Winter is definitely here with Game of Thrones returning to Sky Atlantic from 25th April.”
An HBO teaser for the new season, released last month, hinted that even more shocking deaths and departures were in store for viewers this time around; you can watch that potentially-spoilery trailer here.
It’s expected that red eyed ‘Thrones fans will be able to stay up and watch a simultaneous broadcast of the new series as it’s shown live by HBO in the States.
As well as coming to subscribers with Sky+ or Sky Q, non-Sky TV folks will still be able to stream the action live and on a catch-up basis with a Now TV Entertainment Pass.
Sky+ subscriptions begin at £20.50/month while Sky Q subscriptions start at £42/month. Now TV Entertainment Passes – which give you access to live streams and catch-up content from channels like Sky Atlantic and Sky 1 – cost £6.99/month.
As of next Monday, Sky TV and Now TV customers will be able to rewatch all previously broadcast Game of Thrones episodes of from seasons 1-5.
