YouView Humax boxes updated ahead of BT Sport launch August 1

BT and retail versions of the Humax YouView box have been updated ahead of the BT Sport launch tomorrow.

Retail-purchased Humax YouView boxes are being updated with a handful of bug fixes and tweaks this week, while the BT-supplied products were updated at the end of last week.

Alongside some improvements to enable BT Sport for retail boxes connected to BT Infinity broadband, the retail update adds a couple of specific changes.

The state of the art for Humax YouView boxes

Read Recombu Digital’s guide to getting BT SportYouView representative Piers told the support forum: “Humax software releases for retail and BT boxes all come from a single main development track. There will be times when the releases are not in sync but they’ll regularly end up back in the same place – at least in the foreseeable future.

“The software for all Humax boxes is multicast Internet channel enabled already, and the recent BT releases just fix some minor problems that most retail customers will not be experiencing yet – because they don’t have the necessary BT ISP config.”

The Humax retail update moves the box to version 14.2.0, with component software 1.7.4.

In the programme guide, the ‘No Information Available’ message will be replaced by ‘Loading’ when programme information is being picked up from the broadcast signal, and Panasonic TV owners should no longer experience unexpected aspect ratio switching.

The BT YouView box update appears as 14.1.0 and component software 1.7.2, which is confusing for users but apparently in line with YouView’s development schedule.
