Amazon is expected to refresh its line of Kindle Fire tablets in the coming weeks, and a price cut of its cheapest model seems to back that up. CNET UK spotted the adjustment, saying that the standard Kindle Fire has dropped from £129 to £99.
That’s a pretty good deal given Amazon’s ecosystem. And even if you don’t want to put up with the custom build of Android, you could always root the device and throw something more your liking on there. Specs for the standard Kindle Fire include a 7-inch 1024×600 display, a dual-core OMAP processor, 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage.
Amazon’s range of tablet will be soon be seeing a significant overhaul, according to rumours. The standard Kindle Fire will reportedly see a screen resolution bump to 1280×800, with the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 jumping to 1920×1200 and 2560×1600 respectively. Internals will apparently include Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 SoC, as well as 2GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage.
