Android 6.0 to be Key Lime Pie?

Google’s Android operating systems follow a sickly sweet alphabetical theme. So we’ve had Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich, with Jelly Bean allegedly in the pipeline as the next update. But now rumours are surfacing that the next Android update will be called Key Lime Pie.

The Verge has been tipped off that Android 6.0 will be called Key Lime Pie. Of course it might not even be Android 6.0 either, although numerically it makes sense and Key Lime Pie is a popular desert in the US. As to the validity of the tip, well the source that tipped the website off, is the same one who revealed the term Jellybean, which is looking increasingly likely to be accurate.

Of course Android 5.0 Jellybean hasn’t even launched yet, but it is rumoured to be arriving in the summer this year and is an OS focused on tablets and laptops with a desktop version. It’s clearly designed to rival Microsoft’s Windows 8, which just launched it’s consumer preview last week.

Of course Google hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but we’ll bring you more news as soon as we get it.
