Angry Birds: “200 million minutes a day” spent throwing birds at pigs

That’s according to Rovio’s own Big Bird, Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka,.

Worldwide players contribute a total of 200 million minutes playing the bird-bunging smash-hit. We knew it was popular, but that’s a huge amount of time dedicated to pig-slaughter.

Talking to Bloomberg’s UTV, the Rovio man talked about how they’re continuing to push the Angry Birds IP. Animated films, more level sets, rumoured 3D levels, and a Windows Phone 7 version are coming soon.

According Pocket Lint, Vesterbacka told the gadget news site that: “We’re working on it.”

“Let’s just say, Microsoft has a lot of lawyers,” when asked about what was holding up the game’s release on WinPho7.

He also mentioned that work was already well underway for a 3D version; “We’ve built a lot of 3D games before, it’s not like it’s a lot of learning in order to recreate the technology with Angry Birds.”

No specifics on what device we could be seeing those 3D birds on, but options include LG’s Optimus 3D, or even Nintendo’s new 3DS.
