Apple will reportedly hold an iPad event on October 22nd

Apple will hold an event on October 22nd to announce its new line of iPads, according to AllThingsD. The publication says that Apple intends to refresh both the iPad and iPad mini in addition to showing off new Macs.

As leaks have suggested, the late 2013 iPad could include a thinner and lighter design with reduced bezels, not unlike the design of the current iPad mini. It’s also expected to include Apple’s 64-bit A7 chip – the same one used in the iPhone 5S – as well as an improved camera.

The display on the iPad mini, meanwhile, will make the jump to Retina. It could also include the same A7 chip, although rumours have indicated that a slightly older A6 processor is also possible.

October 22nd is shaping up to be a busy day. Nokia is holding an event of its own on that specific date, where numerous rumoured devices – including the 6-inch Lumia 1520 and 10.1-inch Lumia 2520 – are expected to be announced. We’ll be bringing you news from both events as it breaks.
