Apple iPhone 4S yellow screen tint returns

The infamous yellow screen tint that was reported on the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 has reared its head once again on the iPhone 4S, according to users on the Apple forums.

“Compared with my old iPhone 4, the 4S screen is washed out with a yellow tint. I’m not happy.” Says one user of the forum, echoing dozens of other iPhone 4S users who are experiencing the problem. Long-time Apple fans have been comparing their new phones to older models and claiming the display is noticeably tinted and washed out.

For the moment, however, we’d sit tight rather than start picketing Apple’s Cupertino headquarters or coming up with tedious “-gate” labels to describe the situation. Last year’s iPhone 4 had a similar problem with yellow tinting that was caused by the glue that holds the display in place drying – it was a short term problem, the screen returning to normal after just a week or so.
