Apple iPhone SE price and release date

March 21st’s special Apple event gave us two new smaller takes on existing iOS devices – a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro and the new 4-inch iPhone SE. Here’s the phone’s latest pricing and availability information from UK mobile retailers.

Apple

On stage at the event, Apple’s Greg Joswiak cited pre-order availability for the iPhone SE kicking off on Thursday, March 24th and retail availability from March 31st.

Unlike the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, the SE only comes in two storage options at launch, priced at £359 for the 16GB model and £439 for the 64GB option. Apple also offers a trade-in programme where you can exchange your old computers and smartphones for store credit.

O2

You can grab the iPhone SE from O2 in 16GB and 64GB flavours, with a choice of all four colours. The carrier is offering the SE on a range of its popular Refresh tariffs, starting with £33-a-month recommended plan (for the 16GB model), which includes unlimited calls and texts, 1GB of 4G data and an additional 1GB of data every month, for the first six months of the plan. If you pick the phone up on O2’s £50-a-month Refresh tariff you’ll land yourself unlimited calls and texts, plus 30GB of 4G data and the option to upgrade your handset after just 12 months at no extra cost.

You can also grab the iPhone SE outright from the off, with the 16GB model going for £360 and the 64GB model on offer for £480. Find out more about the iPhone SE from O2 here.

Carphone Warehouse

Carphone Warehouse is on board, offering the iPhone SE on plans with EE, iD, O2 and Vodafone. The most affordable plan comes from CPW’s own iD network, with an upfront cost of £99.99 (for a 16GB model) and a monthly cost of £21.50 over 24 months, giving you 300 minutes, 5000 texts and 500MB of 4G data.

The mobile retailer’s Price Promise also applies, meaning that anyone who finds a better deal from O2, Vodafone or EE on a Pay Monthly or SIM Only plan, will get that deal matched by Carphone Warehouse and their first month’s line rental for free. EE

The UK’s largest carrier, EE has confirmed that it’s ranging the SE and that the handset supports both WiFi calling and 4G calling (VoLTE) on its network. EE is pushing one of its most popular plans with the SE; a 24-month contract with no upfront cost (for the 16GB model), giving you 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of EE Extra 4G data for £29.99 a month.

Alternatively, if you want it all, you can pick up the 64GB iPhone SE for £49.99 a month, with a £49.99 upfront cost on a 24-month plan, giving you unlimited calls and texts alongside a whopping 20GB of EE Extra 4G data. Both of the plans detailed here also feature inclusive minutes and texts when roaming within the EU. Find out more about the iPhone SE on EE here.

Giffgaff

GiffGaff is offering the iPhone SE SIM-free, for £359 (16GB) or £439 (64GB) – the same as Apple. You can also grab it on a 24-month contract with no upfront cost, paying £17.81 a month for the 16GB model and £21.77 a month for the 64GB model.

Mobiles.co.uk

New customers can pick up the smaller 16GB model on a plan with costs as low as £13.99 a month (on EE’s network), whilst the 64GB can be had without an upfront cost for £35 a month, courtesy of Vodafone, which includes 1GB of 4G data, 1000 minutes and unlimited texts. Find out more about the iPhone SE on Mobiles.co.uk here.

For £32.50 a month (plus the £15 monthly handset cost) you’ll receive 5000 minutes, and texts plus 20GB of 4G data.

The 64GB model is available at the same monthly usage costs, with a higher monthly handset cost of £18.50 and Tesco Mobile’s Anytime Upgrade Plans let you pay off the handset cost completely, whenever you want during your contract. Find out more about the iPhone SE on Tesco Mobile here.

The carrier’s most affordable recommended 4G 24-month plan includes the 16GB SE with no upfront cost, all-you-can-eat minutes and texts, plus 1GB of data for £31 a month, whilst the top tier plan gives you unlimited data for £49 a month.

Alternatively, those customers who’ve pre-ordered the SE on the carrier’s Red Value 4GB bundle get it for £44 per month (for the 16GB model) or £49 per month (for the 64GB model), with a £9 upfront cost. For that you get unlimited texts, unlimited minutes and 4GB of data, as well as a choice of free access to Netflix (available until March 31st, 2016), Sky Sports Mobile TV, Spotify Premium or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass for six months.
